Where to retire? A question that I’ve never been asked(!) but I do have views on this subject having had conversations with some of my patients…
As you get older, certain things become more important – and not just the fact that menus seem to be written in micro print or slip on shoes suddenly become more appealing….
An equation we use in A&E is time = brain or heart
which essentially means the quicker you get to hospital after experiencing a heart attack or stroke, the more likely you are to return to a “normal” quality of life.
So although certain parts of the country or world seem enormously appealing – being close to a hospital with stoke / heart attack facilities could be critically important to your future wellbeing.
